Unveiling Luminus’ Dubious Practices: Testachats Exposes Misleading Prices and Lack of Transparency

On Luminus’ side, we defended ourselves once morest any dubious practices. “With hindsight, we see that this choice was not the most advantageous. It is obviously easier to express oneself following the fact, communicates Stéphane Cornet, spokesperson for the supplier. However, we would like to point out that we have fully informed customers when prices have dropped and that we have done everything we can to encourage them to switch to a lower price. We did it in every way possible.”

The fact remains that the supplier has just been sanctioned by the economic inspectorate for questionable commercial practices, following a complaint from Testachats. The archyde news Ethics Jury (JEP), also contacted by Testachats last March, had already judged the “misleading”.

Regularization invoices of more than… €10,000 at Luminus, Test-Achats denounces: “Customers were not correctly informed”

On its website, the gas and electricity supplier recommended its “Comfy” contract under the heading “most advantageous prices”. However, the “Optifix” contract, also present among the offers offered on the Luminus site, represents a cheaper alternative of 360 euros per year, according to calculations by Testachats.

”Of all our fixed rates providing access to our telephone customer service, Comfy was the most interesting choice. Particularly due to the context of the energy crisis, access to customer service by telephone has proven to be very important for many customers,” notes the energy supplier. “However, we actually had a cheaper, fixed, purely digital and, therefore, non-equivalent product, Optifix. We recognize that this can be confusing.”

Since then, the mention of “most advantageous prices” has been replaced by “most interesting product” on the supplier’s website. “The economic inspection confirmed to us in mid-September that this completely regularized the infringement,” concludes Luminus.

Testachats believes, however, that this new formulation remains “confusing and not very transparent.”

The economic inspectorate indicates, for its part, having received 890 reports mentioning the name of an energy supplier and drawing up three reports once morest suppliers present on the electricity and gas market since the start of the year.
