Unusual Number of NHL Scouts in Attendance: What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?

2023-10-13 22:32:10

It is usually normal to see NHL teams send their scouts to games of other teams in the league.

This is a recurring trend, especially near the trade deadline because clubs want to have as much information as possible on the players they like.

It just makes sense.

However, the Laval Rocket begins its season this evening at Place Bell and we learn that there will be scouts from 10 different NHL teams (!!!).

This is a bit unusual for an American League game (especially the first of the season)…

In the last few days, the Canucks announced that they had given permission to Conor Garland’s agent to discuss with other teams in order to reach a transaction.

The small right-handed forward is not happy in Vancouver and is looking for a new team…

Is the Canadian on his list?

Kent Hughes said recently that he was open to trading Mattias Norlinder because there is congestion on the blue line in the organization. The young man stood out at the CH training camp by offering superb performances…

Are the scouts there for Norlinder?

We know that Kent Hughes is looking to add big talent to all positions…

Have the various NHL teams gotten the message?

That’s already a lot of questions and unfortunately, we don’t yet have the answers to all of that. The observation remains the same, however.

10 NHL scouts for an American League game… That’s a lot. It’s huge, even.

We have to wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes and we have to wonder if it involves the organization of the Montreal Canadiens. We are never safe from a surprise, especially since the hiring of Kent Hughes as GM of the Canadiens…
