During the school holidays, you may want to dive into the summer atmosphere. To find a bit of a change of scenery, you don’t need to go to the other side of the world. Indeed, there are places that are out of the ordinary and that will allow you to spend an evening far from the routine and hassle of everyday life. Some might even allow you to experience a magical and timeless moment.
Good summer addresses in the province of Luxembourg: do you want to eat on a lake, pulled by a horse or in the bowels of the earth?
And for that, you don’t need to leave Belgium. Yes, many “unusual” restaurants are distinguished from the others, either by their setting, their cuisine or their concept. We will make you discover them all over the country, throughout the summer. This week, we put our suitcases on the side of the province of Walloon Brabant.
An evening in a greenhouse
If you want to spend an unforgettable and intimate evening, Le Muro is the place for you! Installed in Walloon Brabant, at the gates of Mélin, it is a completely transparent greenhouse, offering a magnificent view of the countryside. An ideal place to spend a romantic evening, with friends or family.
For this unusual moment, you become the chef. Indeed, a basket will be waiting for you in your privatized greenhouse. In this one, you will find a gourmet aperitif accompanied by bubbles, half a bottle of wine per person, a dessert and marshmallows to grill on the fire as well as everything you need for a barbecue, which you will cook yourself -even on the brazier. A vegetarian option is also offered. All products are Belgian and local.
The greenhouse can accommodate between two and six people. The setting of the table and the decoration, the logs for the brazier as well as all the cooking equipment are included. It is also possible to reserve the greenhouse without the meal and to bring, for example, your own meat. To complete this unique and suspended moment, a drawer filled with board games is available in the greenhouse. In case of rain and therefore impossibility to use the brazier, the formula is replaced by a “cheese and wine”.

A houseboat in the city
If you like fish and seafood, La Péniche, in Wavre, is for you! Yes, no need to go to the Coast to taste iodized dishes. His particuliarity ? She has not sailed for many years. It is therefore indeed a restaurant installed in a barge, but which will not take you for a ride on the water. Nevertheless, this establishment offers to spend the evening in a very original and exotic setting.
In reality, it is the front part of a real barge. It is simply installed next to the restaurant, which already existed before. For the record, it was the former owner of the establishment who decided to install the half-boat there. For the record, the building permit to enlarge his restaurant had been refused. But nothing forbade setting up a boat there…

On the menu, there are seafood platters, but also lobster, crab, mussels, many kinds of fish and fine cuts of meat. It is possible to eat à la carte, but a three-course menu is also offered. In this one, you will have the choice between two starters, two main courses and two desserts. A food and wine pairing is also possible.

A private dinner on the water
If you want to organize an evening with friends, with your family, your colleagues or even the chosen one of your heart, it is possible to privatize a covered pontoon, in the middle of the water, in a private quarry. Indeed, close to Louvain-la-Neuve, Corbais on Water invites you to experience an unusual event where you can enjoy a calm and enchanting setting in the middle of nature, from two to twenty people.
For your unusual event on the pontoon, everything can be made to measure. Indeed, in addition to the gastronomic service, the teams also offer you, for example, an artistic show, a pianist or a DJ, a sound and light show or even a fire-eater. They also offer other events, such as the gourmet barbecue in live-cooking, the cocktail with high bar tables, the business meal with a three-course menu or the romantic dinner for two.

Do not panic in case of rain: the pontoon is fully covered. Corbais on Water also offers public events. These are evenings where you share the pontoon with other guests. In August, there are three that are organized, the 25th in the evening and the 27th at noon. These are “three-course gastronomy” events, with a menu created by chef Kevin Roquet. The meal is accompanied by a welcome glass of bubbles, a glass of wine per course and waters. For this event, a trip on the water of one and a half hours is planned.
