Unusual: a couple survived a fatal fall thanks to the iPhone 14

Impossible to deny the obvious: some Apple features present in the brand’s products literally save lives. Recently in Los Angeles, a couple was saved from an impressive accident thanks to the emergency call and geolocation tool without network.

Much more than gadgets. The emergency tools developed by the company with the bitten apple are, without a doubt, to be applauded as they prove their usefulness. Never used the Air Tag? It’s because you’ve probably never lost your keys, your wireless headphones or other small accessories. You also don’t know regarding the functionality added to the latest Apple smartphones, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, allowing you to call for help and be geolocated by satellite? Lucky for you.

Across the Atlantic, she saved more than one person from accidents which unfortunately might have been fatal, as witnessed by the two women buried under the snow, the man who went on an adventure in the Alaskan landscape and more recently the couple who survived a fall in a car…

Rescued following falling off a cliff in a car

The story takes place in Los Angeles County, at the end of December 2022. Christian and Cloe, 24 and 23, are leisurely strolling in their Hyundai Elantra enjoying the magnificent view offered by the canyons of the Angeles National Forest. The Angeles Crest Highway is particularly winding, the young couple is rather vigilant when, suddenly… They are interrupted in their reverie by another motorist who honks his horn in order to be able to overtake them and drive faster. As they pull over to the side, the vehicle slides on the gravel and rolls down a slope over 90 meters high. After stabilizing, the couple comes to their senses. They are more shaken than injured, and are looking for a solution to call for help in this area without a network.

The driver and the passenger manage to get out of their car somehow. A few meters away, they find Cloe’s iPhone 14 discovering, to their surprise, that the emergency service has detected the crash and alerted the authorities. The smartphone screen displays “Looks like you’ve been in an accident” with the option to text for help, which they did. Forty minutes later, the two protagonists are rescued by helicopter. The couple is grateful to have come out alive and to have been rescued so quickly thanks to this Apple tool. Hard to say otherwise, technology never ceases to amaze us.
