According to the forecast of National Metereological Service For this Wednesday, July 12, 2023, rains are expected throughout the day in most areas of the province of Buenos Aires.
During the morning of Tuesday, the area of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires experienced the beginning of constant rainfall. However, Wednesday is expected to be the most intense day in terms of rainwith a forecast of showers throughout the day.
The report published by the National Weather Service announces that instability is expected to persist until the morning of Thursday, July 13. This means that rainy weather conditions and possible storms might continue during that period.
According to the SMN forecast, it is expected that on Thursday, following 11 a.m., heavy rain turns to scattered drizzle. By noon, weather conditions are expected to improve, although skies will remain mostly cloudy.
The SMN issued an alert for strong storms and hail in the province of Buenos Aires and in five other provinces of the country.
In Between Ríos and Corrientes, an orange alert was issued for stormswhile in municipalities of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Chaco and Misiones issued a yellow alert for heavy rains. In addition, there is a warning regarding the risk of strong winds and snowfall in some districts.
The Orange alert involves meteorological phenomena that involve “particularly intense events”. While the alert yellow warns regarding “possible meteorological phenomena with a capacity for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities”.
In this sense, the SMN explains that “the population should be attentive and informed, since the event might require some type of action in the short or medium term.”
The orange warning for storms and possible hail applies to most of the province of currents, in its northeast, center and south. According to the meteorological agency, the area will be affected by heavy rains and storms or locally severe, which “may be accompanied by intense gusts, strong electrical activity, hail fall and fundamentally abundant waterfalls in short periods”, with values of accumulated precipitation between 50 and 90 mm.
In addition, the SMN issued a orange alert for heavy rain in the southeast of Between rivers, in localities such as Columbus, Gualeguaychú, Ibicuy Islands and Tala.
