Until this date you can claim your refund payment

The Montana Department of Revenue has announced that it will reopen its property tax refund request portal.

This is a measure that seeks to provide relief to homeowners in the state.

Starting August 15, eligible residents will be able to apply for a refund of up to $675.

This amount corresponds to the property taxes paid on your primary residence during the year 2023.

To be eligible, the homeowner must have resided in the home for at least seven months during that year.

How to request a refund?

Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to apply online through the official portal, getmyrebate.mt.gov, by October 1.

For those unable to apply online, paper forms will be available beginning August 15 on the department’s website and at local offices.

However, it is important to note that processing of these requests may take up to 90 days.

Remember

Refunds will be issued via check in the mail. The department recommends taxpayers keep an eye on their mail.

Also, you must wait at least four weeks before making any inquiries about the status of your refund.
