Unter accepted the 8.3% increase proposed by the government

After several hours of debate and discussion among the sections, the Unter teaching union accepted the 8.3% salary increase at midnight this Wednesday that the Río Negro government proposed for November salaries.

This is how it was decided in Extraordinary Congress held at the Roca union headquarters, where the different positions on the offer were put to consideration and finally its approval was defined «by a large majority2, as confirmed by the union to Diario RÍO NEGRO.

Earlier, the state union, ATE, had also approved by majority the proposal that the administration of Arabella Carreras, who will cease to be governor on December 10.

UPCN, for its part, “outright” rejected the increase and considered it “very poor” in the context of high inflation and economic uncertainty.

In the previous session, Silvana Inostroza, general secretary of Unter, had indicated that with the official proposal “no salary remains below the poverty line, which was one of the issues we had been raising” and highlighted that “we have returned to an increase in percentages” which will be “per position and not per agent and it is again cumulative which gives us a different impact.”

During that meeting with the representatives of the educational portfolio, which was held at the Ministry of Labor, the teaching sector also raised complaints about the “lack of supplies in cafeterias and deficiencies in school transportation in different locations in the province, as well as the creation of positions, the removal of terminality” and it was requested that «the call for a competition for admission to teaching at all levels and modalities is finalizedin pursuit of the job stability of colleagues.
