On New Year’s Eve 2000, a family of 4, consisting of office worker Mikio Miyazawa (44), his wife Yasuko Miyazawa (41), eldest daughter Niina (8), and eldest son Rei (6), were found in a house in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo. A person was found murdered.
The Metropolitan Police Department has so far deployed over 293,000 investigators to investigate the incident, but they have not identified the suspect.
On the 30th, Mikio’s mother, Setsuko (92), visited the cemetery in Saitama Prefecture where the four people’s graves are located, and placed flowers and quietly clasped hands in front of the graves.
After visiting the grave, Setsuko released a comment saying, “I wonder why the culprit hasn’t been caught even though a lot of evidence has been found.I’m getting older myself, and I wish I might tell four people the truth regarding the incident while I’m still alive.” I will continue to do what I can to report the incident,” he said, appealing for an early resolution.
Information such as the characteristics of the criminal’s clothing and the weapon used in the crime is published on the Metropolitan Police Department’s website.
Information regarding the incident is also accepted at the Investigation Headquarters of Seijo Police Station.
