The actress of the American version of The Office, Jenna Fischershared an extensive post on his social networks in which he revealed that he recently faced a crucial battle. The 50-year-old performer announced to her followers that she was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer in December 2023.

“October is breast cancer awareness month. I never thought I’d make an announcement like this, but here we are. Last December, I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer. After completing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, I am now cancer-free,” the actress announced.

Then, he gave some details about the path he has taken since receiving the diagnosis: “In October 2023, I posted a photo of myself on Instagram preparing for my routine mammogram (…). After inconclusive results on that mammogram due to dense tissue, my doctor ordered a breast ultrasound. They found something in my left breast. A biopsy was ordered. Then, on December 1, 2023, I learned that I had stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer. Triple-positive breast cancer is an aggressive form of breast cancer, but it also responds very well to treatment. In January I had a lumpectomy to remove the tumor. Fortunately, my cancer was caught early and had not spread to my lymph nodes or the rest of my body; However, due to the aggressive nature of triple-positive breast cancer, I still required chemotherapy and radiation to ensure it did not return.”

“In February I started 12 rounds of weekly chemotherapy and in June three weeks of radiation. And while I continue to receive treatment with trastuzumab infusions and a daily dose of tamoxifen, I am happy to say that I feel great,” he reviewed. “I lost my hair during chemotherapy, but thanks to some great wigs and hair hats I have been able to wait until now to reveal everything that has been happening to me,” she explained.

The actress also revealed why she decided to speak on the subject now: “I am making this announcement for several reasons. First, I’m ready to ditch the wigs. Second, to implore you to have annual mammograms. They can also ask their doctor to calculate their breast cancer risk assessment score and have any additional screening tests needed. I’m serious, call your doctor right now. My tumor was so small that it could not be palpated on a physical exam. If I had waited six more months, things could have been much worse. It could have spread. Seeing women post photos of their mammogram appointments on Instagram prompted me to set up my own (which I was late to). I’m very glad I did it. Consider this a kick in the butt to get them to do it.”

“I also share it in the hope that it will be a source of support for any woman going through this right now. As anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis knows, your life changes immediately. It’s all about doctor appointments, test results, treatments, and recovery from treatments. Suddenly, everything in your life revolves around one thing: fighting cancer,” he said. And he explained: “It takes a village to fight cancer, and I have had an incredible village. Until this happened, I don’t think I really knew the generosity and kindness that could flow from one person to another. It started with a team of doctors and nurses; all of them angels. There were caregivers, some of whom I saw only once, who shared their own breast cancer stories with me. They seemed placed along my path just at the times when I needed them most. I was connected to other cancer survivors who guided me along the way. You miss that they are sisters now. “It reinforced how powerful sharing can be for the next person taking this journey.”

“Another great part of the town was my friends and family who surrounded us with their love and support. Each person had their special way of taking care of me. Some people gave me chemotherapy tests every week, some took me for walks, picked up our kids from school, dropped off food, took me shopping for wigs, and some sent me prayers in the form of audio messages. Every gesture, big or small, was felt. Everything was perfect. Plus, a lot of people in my life didn’t know about it until very recently. And I needed that too. “I needed spaces and people who didn’t see me as a cancer patient,” he thanked.

“Fortunately, I have been able to continue working during the treatments. This was all because I work with my best friend, Angela Kinsey, who protected me and advocated for me. For a long time, she was the only person in my workspace who knew. When I lost my hair, she wore hats to our work meetings so I wouldn’t be the only one. When I needed a break, we took it. I’m very lucky to have a career with this kind of flexibility. Cancer treatment requires a lot of flexibility. For someone who likes to plan, it was a difficult adjustment. But continuing to work has brought a lot of joy to my life during treatment,” he said.

Later, the actress revealed how her intimate environment took the news and how they accompanied her during the treatment: “People usually ask: ‘How are the children?’. My kids are 10 and 13, and they are great. We took this trip as a family. They saw that he could do many of the same things as before, like eating with his family and attending his school events. And they saw the limitations that cancer treatment had for me, like going to bed before them and needing naps during the day. We told their teachers, coaches, and any adults who might be in a position to support them. We rely on our community. They held us back. “We got through it together.”

“Finally, I must mention my husband Lee, who has been by my side through all of this. And I mean literally on my side… Surgeries, chemotherapy, doctor’s appointments, endless Google searches, ugly crying late at night. He was there for everything. I knew he was a good catch when I married him. He was right. After my final chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Lee asked me if there was anything I wanted to do to celebrate. I said I just wanted to ring a bell, with the kids, in our backyard, and everyone throwing confetti. “So we did it,” said the actress who, affectionately, shared a photograph that portrayed that situation.

At the end, the actress shared the good news with her followers: “I am happy to say that I was recently examined again and that the treatments worked. I am cancer free. “I will continue to be treated and monitored to help me get started that way.”
