UNRWA calls for independent investigation into Israeli bombing of agency school housing 2,000 displaced people in central Gaza

“The longer the war lasts, the deeper the rift becomes and the more the population suffers,” Lazzarini said via the “X” platform, calling for an independent investigation into Israel’s bombing of an agency school housing 2,000 displaced people in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.

“Since the war began, our facilities have been hit, some multiple times, some directly, and as a result, 520 people have been killed and nearly 1,600 injured as they sought some safety,” he added.

He continued: “The repeated claim from Israel is that our facilities are used by Palestinian groups and we reiterate that these are claims that UNRWA rejects.”

Sixteen Palestinians, most of them children and women, were killed yesterday, Saturday, in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a school housing displaced people in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip.

All areas of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a major water and food crisis, due to the Israeli army’s destruction of infrastructure, water lines and desalination stations, while the United Nations has warned of the repercussions of the hunger crisis that the people of Gaza are struggling with as the war between the Palestinian factions and Israel continues.

Since the outbreak of the devastating war on the Strip on October 7, the Israeli army has tightened its siege on the Gaza Strip, cutting off water, food, medicine, electricity and fuel supplies to the Strip’s population of regarding 2.3 million Palestinians, who are already suffering from extremely deteriorating conditions.
