COVID will torment the sick person for at least 18 months: the virus is becoming more cunning and insidious
The world needs to come up with a new treatment.
Long COVID lasts for at least 18 months. And this applies to both infection with “new” strains of COVID, as well as Alpha, Delta, Omicron. This was stated by Danish scientists in the publication of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases.
A new study from Europe found that more than half of people with severe cases of long COVID had not improved after a year and a half.
Long COVID is a widespread illness in which any combination of more than a dozen symptoms, such as fatigue, brain fog and pain, persists for many months, sometimes resulting in disability.
The authors called the finding “surprising” after analyzing data from Danish patients who were referred to specialist clinics because of severe suffering.
The study also found that people infected during the Delta and Omicron waves tended to be more physically exhausted.
In their conclusion, Danish scientists said: the world needs the development of an effective treatment for the long-term disease SARS-CoV-2.
