Mervyn Dhillon After Courtney Walsh and Ambrose, Mervyn Dhillon led the West Indies pace bowling. Dhillon was adjudged by cricket observers to be his successor as he bears a slight resemblance to Walsh in bowling action.
Dhillon made his debut in international cricket in 1997 in a Test once morest India. Dhillon, who bowled 35 overs in India’s first innings in the Test held at Port of Spain, took 3 wickets. India did not get a second chance to bat in the Test which ended in a draw.
Dhillon played 38 Tests and took 131 wickets. He has the best record in ODIs as well. 130 wickets in 108 games at an economy of 4.62.
Dhillon also took part in a remarkable development in cricket. The incident happened in the first innings of a Test once morest Sri Lanka in 2001. After two balls of the over, Dhillon withdrew due to injury and it was left to Colin Stewart to complete the over.
With two beamers in the next three balls, Stewart was banned from bowling. Chris Gayle completed the over by bowling the remaining 3 balls. This is the only event in international cricket where 3 bowlers have each completed the feat.
Dhillon also holds the elusive record for the most number of shutouts in a calendar year.
