Concerns among experts that the climate crisis is becoming a reality are emerging as global ocean temperatures hit unprecedented highs for more than a month, the British daily Guardian reported.
Preliminary data released by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) showed that the average sea surface temperature earlier this month was 21.1 degrees Celsius, surpassing the record high of 21 degrees Celsius set in March 2016, the hottest record on record.
The Guardian reported that this year’s sea temperature began to rise rapidly from March, and high temperatures continued for over a month, which was the first time since observations such as satellites in 1981.
He added that the academic community sees it as a phenomenon that is difficult to explain.
