The 20th edition of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) ends this weekend near Chamonix. The event now includes eight different events and has been available since 2022 in a championship of 36 meetings on the entire planet, the UTMB World Series. This is because very long distances have almost become commonplace with the proliferation of races and the democratization of the practice. But there was a time, in the early 2000s, when setting off for more than 150 kilometers in the mountains was an unprecedented adventure for all participants, as told by the Temps the Fribourgeoise Colette Borcard and the Vaudois Christophe Jaquerod, the two Swiss who have so far managed to register their name on the list of winners of the flagship race of the UTMB.
