A policeman from the regional administration in Velingrad is under investigation for sexual assault against a minor. The case dates back to the beginning of October, but it was only on Friday that it was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, after the NOVA team started working on the case and made an official inquiry. Journalist Marieta Nikolaeva met and spoke with the victim – a 15-year-old girl and her parents. We also looked for the police officer under investigation.
We will call her Vicky and she will remain anonymous to preserve her honor and dignity. She is only 15 years old. She agrees to tell about that September 26, when, in her words, she became the object of brutal sexual assault. She knows the bully because she monitors public order in front of her school. Until he looked for her on Instagram under the pretext of talking about her classmate.
“I asked him is he going to come out? And he said that because he was tired, we should meet at their place. At first, I didn’t expect that he could do something to me, because he is a law enforcement officer,” says the victim.
That’s why Vicky trusts him and goes to his house. “We talked, but suddenly he started behaving strangely, pulling me. He asked if he could take off my leggings, but I kicked him between my legs, he started to squeeze my arms. I had bruises on my sides, it pulled me a lot. I told him to leave me, I kicked him, I cried several times. There are many moments I don’t remember,” the girl says.
Vicky leaves the policeman’s house and then gets a message from him to keep quiet. “After this case, he wrote to me that it should be confidential. I thought not to tell anyone, I was ashamed. I shared with a classmate,” she adds.

The classmate tells her mother and that’s how Vicki’s parents find out. “I also happened to find out from her friend’s mother. The doctor said she had intercourse. And I was indignant, he is standing in front of the school for the day, and he looks at them to see who is going and who is not going. There are rumors that he assaulted other girls as well,” the parent points out.
Vicky’s father is skeptical that there will be justice. He experiences what happened very hard. “I have information that this happened to two other boys as well. He pulls out a gun and oversteps his rights,” he claims
“Yes, she will get over it. But for what? Should people in power do what they want?” asked the victim’s father.
Immediately after the report, the inspector was detained by the Internal Security Directorate for 24 hours. He has been suspended for two months pending an investigation. We are looking for him at his home. His house is under renovation. “It’s staged,” he says when asked about the incident. After a short thought, he comes out again and offers to give us his lawyer’s phone number. “There is nothing true. If you want to talk to my lawyer,” adds the man.
NOVA asked for a comment, we are also looking for his superior – the head of the regional administration in Velingrad. At first he told the postman that he would come down to us, but then he refused.
The district prosecutor’s office in Pazardzhik is working on the case. No charges have been filed against the law enforcement officer at this time. Witnesses have been questioned, the results of the examinations are awaited.
