“There is no alternative measure […] in the face of the high risk of recidivism of violence that you represent”, affirmed the Parole Board of Canada [CLCC] in a decision made public on Wednesday.

So even if he was able to get out of the penitentiary, Montreal pedophile André Faivre will not be entirely free as air despite his limited progress since he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his crimes once morest children.

It is that Faivre, 75, was not just a pedophile looking for “fresh flesh”. Convinced that it was legitimate to sexually abuse children, he had founded a “social club” where pedophiles shared tips for discreetly getting closer to children.

No progress

His group had been dismantled following a police infiltration and Faivre has been detained since 2016. However, according to the PBC, Faivre abandoned prison programs because he considered it to be “brainwashing”.

A first release last year had also gone badly, since he had been caught with a pendant representing a wolf “who is looking for the fresh meat of the child”. Faivre had been forbidden to wear it, which had annoyed him.

Then, shortly following, he came into contact with a vulnerable young man of 19, “but who looks younger, 16-17 years old” according to the CLCC.

Strict conditions

These behaviors had prompted the authorities to send him back to prison.

“Despite this revocation decision and in accordance with the law, you will once more have to be released under supervision”, however reminded the PBC, which however imposed a series of conditions on it.

Thus, in addition to residing in a halfway house, Faivre will have to let his surveillance agents search his phones. He will also have to declare all his relationships, whether friendly or sexual, and he will not be able to approach children, except with authorization, ruled the CLCC which says it has taken into account his “high social danger”, his “low potential for social reintegration” and his “lack of progress and questioning”.

Since Faivre has also been declared a long-term offender, he will be able to continue to be supervised, even following he has finished serving his sentence.
