Thus, professionals who practice within this branch of Medicine work in different subjects, where we find dermatologists, plastic surgeons, dentists, and other experts in the health sciences.

In this regard, Energía Hoy spoke with the doctor Adrian Cassabdoctor graduated from the Anáhuac University, who also specialized in Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Barcelona and who, at his young age, already has a notable international career, earning the alias of “doctor to the stars” given his history of celebrities who have resorted to their services.

“It is important to mention that the branch in which I operate is Aesthetic Medicine, which is not the same as Aesthetic Surgery, or is even confused with Plastic Surgery. It is an issue of terminology, where sometimes there is conflict between aesthetic and plastic surgeons for encompassing them within the same specialization when in reality they are different topics.

We perform many procedures, more than 50, and they have a lot to do with the person’s well-being. Nowadays, a lot depends on the doctor’s approach. There may be doctors who perform procedures solely for payment and for aesthetic reasons.

I do it too, but my focus is more towards well-being, aging well, so that we reach an age of 60, 70, 80 looking good, feeling good; to be one of those older people who run and exercise, for example, instead of being in a wheelchair and convalescent. And precisely that can be achieved with various treatments, because aging begins at 25 years of age.

So, we combine what is Apparatus (set of techniques for beauty, via machines or technological devices), Aesthetic medicine, which are already the injectables; but also functional medicine, everything that is the organism, nutrigenomic supplementation, since we already involve even the genes.”

Adrián Cassab and his team mainly apply hyaluronic acid, a type of molecular sugar (found in the human body) that allows certain modifications to be made quickly without the need for surgery. In the words of the general doctor for Anáhuac, the people who are going to apply this substance, with the application of two or three ‘packets’, come out with a new lip, a new profile, one of the Greek type that became fashionable recently.

In this sense, Adrián’s clinic is the one that applies the most hyaluronic acid in the entire country, with around twenty procedures per week; in addition to hydration treatments, fillers, botox, to mention a few services in its wide range of possibilities.

Needs of Aesthetic Medicine in the Mexican market

On the other hand, Dr. Cassab points out that, although Aesthetic Medicine is the branch in which he has worked in recent years, successfully in Mexico and in different parts of the world, for this discipline the country needs more professionalization. .

“Unfortunately, I feel that we are quite behind in Aesthetic Medicine. In Mexico, very few doctors do research. Everything we usually present as a reference is research from other countries; Unlike Spainof Colombiaof Brazil. If you talk, for example, regarding hyaluronic acid in 50-year-old women, all the studies are generally from Brazil or Colombia. So there is a lot of research needed.

On issues of Cofepris, I apologize to the commission, but they are very slow regarding the approval of new technologies; Colombia and Brazil are far ahead of us, USA (EU). What does the above mean? If a new product comes onto the market, already with important laboratory studies, it might arrive in Colombia approximately one year, or even two years before it arrives in Mexico.

In the US, products also arrive much earlier and that does not mean that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the equivalent of Cofepris, whether it is a bad agency or one that does not review the product well, they simply have much more agile processes.”

With nearly 9 years of experience in the application of Aesthetic Medicine procedures, today Adrián Cassab is recognized in Mexico and in different latitudes for his great results in his patients, so much so that different people who live off his image (among other talents) such as singers, actors and actresses, influencers and even beauty queens, are recurring clients of his clinic in Mexico City.

What’s next for Adrián Cassab?

As I pointed out before, in Mexico we are a little behind, so I do want to give workshops to doctors, precisely on business, finance, because as a doctor you study Medicine, but when they tell you hey, you have to pay taxes, there are these norms and regulations, because nobody teaches that in Medicine. We will give workshops on the application of hyaluronic acid, in collaboration with brands and laboratories.

In the long term, well, it is opening branches, in which we moved to Polanco and all that. “We will probably collaborate with Laura León once more.”
