China Energy News Network (Correspondent Liu Hongsen, Reporter Mo Fei) Recently, a special friendly primary school football match was held at Beijing Normal University Experimental Primary School.

One of the participating players is from the Beijing Normal University Experimental Primary School Football Team, and the other is 10 players from Qumalai County, Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province, more than 2,500 kilometers away from Beijing, who came to Beijing to participate in the “National Energy Group Little Pomegranate Seeds” football research camp Players from primary schools in Tibetan areas. Players from both sides ran, passed and shot in the drizzle. Every action was full of passion and vitality. Although their skills are still immature, their desire to win and their love for football make every effort they make particularly dazzling.

The fact that Qumalai County, with an average altitude of over 4,500 meters, has such a strong football atmosphere is also due to the efforts of the National Energy Group. Qumalai County is located at the source of the Yellow River and is a county designated for assistance by the National Energy Group. Based on the actual situation, the National Energy Group chose to use characteristic education as a breakthrough point to carry out educational assistance.

In 2023, the National Energy Group and the People’s Government of Qumalai County jointly launched the “Yellow River Source Chasing Dreams·Young Player Training Plan” youth football charity project. Since the implementation of the project, the software and hardware conditions of the Qumalai youth football team have been improved, which has increased many exchange opportunities to go out to participate in professional events, and the level of athletes and coaches has continued to improve.

Dorje Randin, an 11-year-old member of the Qumalai Youth Training Camp, has only learned to play football for less than two years, but he has been able to hit the ball more than 420 times in a row and is hailed by the coach as the “Hope of Qinghai Province.” “In the past, I could only use cow dung to make signboards, build simple goals, and practice passing and shooting while herding sheep. Now that there are many brand-new training equipment in the training ground, I have more motivation to practice well.” More football teenagers Jerandin told reporters.

The football study camp is part of Qumalai Youth Football Training Project. Through study activities, children in Tibetan areas have the opportunity to get out of the plateau, learn about the outside world, and broaden their horizons. This study lasted for five days and centered on “patriotic education”, “three friendship activities”, “Olympic memories” and “football exchanges”.

“I have been to 9 places. I never had such an opportunity before playing football. I am very grateful to football for allowing me to see the outside world.” said Jiumei Dorje, a sixth-grade youth training team member. “This is my When we came to Beijing for the first time, we watched the flag raising, and I also wanted to climb the Great Wall.”

After more than a year of hard work, Qumalai youth football has achieved remarkable results – in 2023, Qumalai sent 17 women’s football players to the Qinghai Provincial Women’s Football U15 team, helping the Qinghai Women’s Football Team reorganize again after more than 30 years. In 2023 and 2024, Qumalai won the U13 China Youth Football League (Qinghai Division) championship for two consecutive years. 18 members of the team were also specially recruited to the Yushu (Haidong) Branch of the Middle School Affiliated to the Minzu University of China…

This project not only improves the characteristic education level of Qumalai County, but also provides children in Tibetan areas with more opportunities to receive education and study. It also gives them more career planning directions in the future and broadens their paths to growth and success. “Football sows the seeds of national unity, hard work, and continuous progress in the hearts of Tibetan children. It is also the social and emotional foundation that continuously consolidates the consciousness of the Chinese nation’s community and builds a powerful synergy to build the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Vivid practice,” said Dong Zhu, deputy secretary of the Qumalai County Party Committee and deputy county magistrate of the National Energy Group.

On that remote and mysterious plateau, the sun filled every inch of the land and illuminated the children’s football-loving hearts. We look forward to the football flower of Qumalai blooming more brilliantly under the blue sky and white clouds on the plateau.
