That’s how the qualifier works
First stage: Nine separate qualifiers around Europe between 27 August and 27 September.
Second qualifying stage: Four separate qualifying races on four Spanish tracks from 31 October to 3 November.
Final qualifier: 156 players square off at Infinitum Golf over six rounds. Everyone plays four rounds, then a qualifying cutoff is drawn and the top 65 plus splits advance to the final two rounds.
20 places plus splits are up for grabs this year, which is five places less than last year.
Many cards – few seats
Due to the even scoreboard and the many splits, there were 33 players who earned DP World Tour status after last year’s final qualifiers.
However, when the starting fields on the DP World Tour are to be filled, there are not 33 places available for those who played well in the final qualifier.
This week’s DP World Tour event has just eight places to the 33 from the final qualifier.
In the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed which was co-organized with the Ladies European Tour, the DP World Tour received 78 places and none of them went to players with final qualifier status.
The same applies to the major competitions and those with the most prize money.
So it is important not only to be among the 20 in the final qualifier. The higher you finish, the more competitions you will be able to enter in the next season.
