Asunción, IP Agency.- The Itaipu Binacional Hydroelectric Power Plant supplied the country, through the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), with 15,013 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electrical energy from January to September of this year.
This is stated in the monthly energy supply and production report provided by the Technical Directorate of the Entity’s Right Bank.
Energy production for the ninth month was 5,284 GWh. Of this value, 2,689 GWh were generated by the 50 Hz system; of which, 1,380 GWh were supplied to ANDE.
The total amount produced during the aforementioned period totaled 48,014 GWh, equivalent to what is necessary to supply Paraguay’s demand for approximately two years and two months.
The report also mentions the high availability rate of the generating units of the ITAIPU Hydroelectric Power Plant, whose value as of September was 97.03%, exceeding the business goal of 94% by 3.03%.
These achievements are possible thanks to the operational and maintenance efficiency, the technical quality of the staff and the coordinated work between the electrical systems of Paraguay and Brazil, optimizing the available resources to cover the existing demand from the interconnected system.
Itaipu Binacional is the largest generator of clean and renewable energy, with a production of more than 3,032,725 GWh since the beginning of its operations in 1984.
