Some lay flat for days because of Corona — others didn’t even notice the disease. Now researchers have found a possible explanation.

the essentials in brief
Around every fifth person infected with Covid-19 showed no symptoms. However, 25 percent of those examined without symptoms showed a specific gene variant. This is responsible for recognizing and fighting viruses in the body.
Covid-19 has not had the same effect on every infected person. While some were more severely ill, others had a milder course. Studies have shown that at least one in five people who tested positive had no symptoms. What reason can this have?
US and Australian research teams have struggled to find the answer to this question. They published the results of their study in the journal “Nature”.
A total of 1428 people who had contracted SARS-CoV-2 at least once were examined. Of these, 136 people showed no recognizable symptoms of the virus. It turned out that 25 percent of the asymptomatically infected carry the gene variant HLA-B*15:01.
HLA gene shows higher protection
The gene complex HLA belongs to the antibodies and is used to recognize and fight viruses in the human body. For example, HLA-B*27 slows down the development of AIDS. People who inherited the HLA gene from both parents were even better protected once morest Covid-19. According to researchers, they are eight times less likely to have symptoms.
Thanks to HLA, cold viruses form a stronger immune response to corona. This was found out by scientists from the Berlin Institute of Health and the Max Planck Institute. If people had a cold before their corona infection, the body is able to recognize the virus earlier.
Are you sick with Covid-19?
People who can detect the HLA gene but have never been infected with Covid-19 were also examined. The protein NQK-Q8 was discovered in the process. Three quarters of those examined carried this within themselves. NQK-Q8 increases the production of the corona protein, which means that the body reacts faster and better to Covid-19.
