Unlocking Solar Energy: A Guide to Requesting SENER’s Assistance for Your Home Installation

MEXICO CITY.- The Ministry of Energy (Sener) together with the Trust for the Saving Electric Energy (FIDE) aims to promote the use of clean energy and savings on electricity bills, which is why they provide support for the installation of solar panels called “Support for distributed generation”.

Sener offers support that covers 25% of the total cost of the projectwhile the remaining 75% is financed by FIDE with a preferential interest rate and a term of up to five years.

This program ensures that the transition from regular electricity to solar energy does not represent an expense for families or companies that decide to use photovoltaic panels.

Requirements to request support

  • Be a domestic user with their own home, with an electricity bill at rates: 1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E and 1F.
  • Pay more than 1,500 pesos for electricity per month
  • Users with a home with a cadastral value of up to 4 million pesos (MDP) Photovoltaic System interconnected to the CFE network, in powers from 1 KWp to 5 KWp: for rates 1, 1A, 1B, and from 1 KWp to 8 KWp: for rates 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F

The installation of solar panels will be carried out according to energy needsthe available space, with the optimal orientation to make the most of solar energy and the feasibility of interconnection to CFE distribution lines.

To obtain support you must request it at the SENER websitewhere you will fill out a form with your data.

All the Suppliers are registered in the FIDE Register of Specialized Companies. The solar panels and inverters installed must have the FIDE Seal, which guarantees their energy efficiency, quality and safety.

The providers included in the program are responsible for managing all the necessary procedures for the interconnection with CFE. In addition, these providers have a certification granted by FIDE, which guarantees an adequate installation in accordance with the standards established in the NOM.

What is residential solar energy?

It consists of using photovoltaic technology to generating solar energy at homeTo achieve this, solar panels are installed on the roofs of homes, which capture sunlight.

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into direct current, which is transferred and used to power electrical devices.

The energy produced is measured by a meter and then directed to an electrical supply box, from where it is distributed to the home’s network.
