The Dragon Quest series has long since grown, moving from the main series to JPRG, launching various spin-offs that (more or less directly) deal with different genres. While we have city builders in Dragon Quest Builders, we also have the musou combat of Dragon Quest Heroes, and more recently the action RPG Dragon Quest Treasures. But in addition to fighting monsters, Square Enix’s franchise also wanted to master the creatures drawn by Akira Toriyama like magical Pokémon, and Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was born from this idea. According to its creators, the story is intended to satisfy both Dragon Quest veterans and newcomers to the series, this time following a hero who, due to a curse, is unable to harm any of the monsters that attack him, so he advances across Nadia Land’s strategy is to raise an army of monsters to fight on his behalf. Your abilities include not only taming creatures, but also strengthening them, breeding them, and even combining them to create more powerful creatures. Once you have a team to match up with, you can battle other trainers in the Coliseum Arena to prove who is the best. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is coming to Nintendo Switch on December 1, and you can watch a trailer for the game below. HQ
