University rectors demand compliance with electoral guarantees

This Thursday, the Venezuelan Association of University Rectors (I will have) issued a statement in which it presented three points considered key for the holding of the presidential elections on July 28.

Specifically, the group showed in the writing details that citizens must take into account for the elections.

The first, in which voters are invited to voteit is highlighted that this right is intended “validate the civic commitment to exercise the sovereign right to vote as part of the functioning of the democratic system”.

The second goes aimed at the responsible institutions of the electionsso that they “comply with and enforce the necessary guarantees in favor of political actors and voters.”
These, according to Averu, “they have a preponderant role in the security and care of the exercise of sovereignty through voting (…) and in the scrutiny in accordance with the electoral law”.

“The electoral body has the duty to transmit confidence to citizens. Its impartiality, seriousness, balance, autonomy and transparency are fundamental, as well as allowing access to interested parties and observers to the certification process.”they insisted.

The statement closed by urging “seek a broad dialogue that builds agreements with the different sectors of society with a magnanimous and inclusive vision”.
