The University of Tripoli Students Union called on the university presidency and the Ministry of Higher Education in the Government of National Unity to dismiss the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Examinations Committee and to open an investigation into the death of a female student following she was forced to take the exam despite her health condition.
In a statement, the Student Union described what happened as a “violation of human rights” at the College of Pharmacy and “extremism in the regulations” without understanding the provisions of Regulation 501, the spirit of the law, and the absence of reason and wisdom from those who have the responsibility to estimate and not accept medical excuses. According to the statement.
The Union held the Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Pharmacy responsible for the incident, adding that they had received many complaints of ill-treatment and intimidation away from the purposes of science and learning, according to their saying.
The federation confirmed that it had addressed the university presidency regarding the facts that took place in the college, stressing that the pretext of their lack of knowledge and ignorance of these facts does not work.
The federation revealed that the deceased student was forced to take the exam despite the presence of her guardian, but he was met with intransigence and the college refused to accept the excuse, according to the statement.
