Turning Point

The Yotes handily took the first two sets before Oral Roberts started to fight back in set three in hopes of extending the match to extra sets. Avery Van Hook started at the service line for the Yotes in set three and served seven-straight points to give USD an 8-1 lead. South Dakota led 13-7 when a kill from Natassia Baptiste spurred a 3-0 run for the Golden Eagles to bring them within three at 13-10. ORU brought it within three once more at 15-12 to force a USD timeout, but Sealock put down a kill right out of the timeout to spur the Yotes to the finish line.
Notable
Sealock tallied match-high three service aces for the Coyotes to go with her match-high kills, six digs, and three blocks.
Freshman setter Avery Van Hook dished out 23 assists while adding three kills and two digs. It was her 19th match with at least 20 assists.
South Dakota hit .356 on the match while holding Oral Roberts to a .024 hitting percentage. In set two, the Yotes held ORU to a negative hitting clip.
As a squad, USD had just two hitting errors combined in sets one and two.
Quotable
“Really happy with that win, it was definitely a team win,” said head coach Leanne Williamson. “We were pretty dominate in different areas of the game in the first two sets. One of the things this team has worked on a lot is consistency. I think we lost that a little in the third set, but the team handled it well and got better as the set went on. It’s always great to get a few different people in the match and see them have success as well.”
