University of Salzburg: Haslauer wants rector “as soon as possible”.

If a decision is not made “as soon as possible”, the state will stop funding for projects at the university, Haslauer told the “Salzburger Nachrichten”. Since 2016, the state of Salzburg has donated around 29 million euros to the university.

The University of Salzburg currently does not have a rector: In February, the university senate made a two-person proposal for the university council instead of the usual three-person proposal. The incumbent rector, 69-year-old doctor Hendrik Lehnert, was not taken into account – although he would like to serve a second term.

Most recently, the Ministry of Science repealed the Senate’s two-person election proposal due to “serious deficiencies”. Lehnert is back in the race. The Senate wants to discuss how to proceed at its next meeting.
