PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team split a pair of matches at the Hecht Tennis Center, Sunday followingnoon. Penn fell to Delaware, 4-3, and defeated Saint Joseph’s, 4-0.
The Quakers dropped the doubles point to the Blue Hens, as Delaware took the wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
As for singles, Manfredi Graziani picked up the first singles victory for Penn to even up the match at 1-1. Graziani earned the win in straight sets at No. 1. Luka Butera fell at No. 6 in straight sets as the Blue Hens took back the lead.
Baylor Sai was able to tie the match with his win at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1. Moments later, Matthew Rutter won in straight sets at No. 5 to give the lead back to the Quakers.
From there, Kian Vakili fell in three sets at No. 3, while Sandler lost a highly contested battle at No. 3, which gave Delaware the win.
Against Saint Joseph’s, Penn dominated the doubles portion of the match. Vakili and Sandler picked up the 6-0 win at No. 1, while Goodman and Butera earned the 6-2 victory at No. 3 to pick up the doubles point.
In singles action, with Vakili playing at No. 1, he set the tone with a 6-3, 6-1 win to extend Penn’s lead, 2-0. At No. 3 Sai picked up his second singles win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 performance.
Butera sealed the deal for the Quakers with a 6-0, 6-0 domination at No. 5.

Penn will be back in action next weekend, hosting the ECAC Indoor Championship from February 16-18, at the Hecht Tennis Center.
