“University Dentistry” issues a booklet for people with visual challenges in Braille

The University Dental Hospital at the University of Sharjah celebrated the World Braille Day, which falls on January 4 of each year, by issuing and distributing educational materials printed in Braille on oral and dental health and post-treatment instructions to reduce the risk of dental problems and oral diseases and improve the quality of people’s private health life visually impaired.

Coinciding with the University of Sharjah’s celebrations of the Silver Jubilee, and its role in serving members of society with special needs, the University Dental Hospital at the University of Sharjah celebrated World Braille Day, which was approved by the United Nations on the fourth of January every year, by issuing and distributing educational materials printed in Braille. Oral and dental health and post-dental advice to reduce the risk of dental problems and oral diseases and improve the quality of life for people with visual impairments.

This came during a practical workshop organized by the University Dental Hospital at the University of Sharjah through the mobile dental clinic in cooperation with the Emirates Society for the Visually Impaired, where awareness was spread regarding the most important preventive measures to reduce the risk of oral and dental diseases.

In addition to comprehensive examinations and immediate treatments provided by the mobile dental clinic, the mobile clinic provides free examination and treatment services to all members of the community and is equipped with the necessary equipment and specialized medical staff.

Educational pamphlets on oral and dental health were distributed in Braille for the first time in the Emirate of Sharjah, in cooperation with the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired, at a ceremony held at the association’s headquarters, in the presence of Prof. Dr. And a number of doctors, specialists, students of the Faculty of Dentistry, children of the association and their families.

Prof. Ahmed Hamdan, Dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Sharjah, confirmed that these community initiatives are in line with the strategy of the College of Dentistry and the University of Sharjah, which aims to serve and develop the community, and coincides with the University of Sharjah’s celebrations of the Silver Jubilee and the 25th anniversary of its establishment.
