Universities opened in Afghanistan; But girls are not allowed!

Since the Taliban came to power, women and children in Afghanistan have faced massive inequality. Women were even denied freedom of movement. Finally, girls were even denied the opportunity to get an education. Universities in Afghanistan have now reopened following the winter break. But the saddest thing is that the ban on girls continues.

In August 2021, when the Taliban came back to power in Afghanistan, the miseries of women began. ‘It’s so heartbreaking. Universities are open. Boys are going to study. We are staying at home.’- says 22-year-old Rahela. “This is gender inequality once morest girls. Because Islam has given us the right to higher education. No one can stop us from gaining knowledge.’- Rahela clarified.

Girls were banned from studying following they were not ready to enter schools wearing the dress prescribed by the Taliban. The Taliban also imposed a ban on traveling with male friends on and off campus. The Taliban also issued an order that only older men and women should teach girls. The Taliban leaders had previously said that restrictions on women’s education would be imposed temporarily. But girls have been denied education for almost a year. After the Taliban came to power, women were completely wiped out from public places.
