Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo Celebrates Day of the Zootechnician Veterinarian with Successful Graduates and Donations

MORELIA, Mich., August 18, 2023.- “The zootechnical veterinarians who are trained at our institution have a great profile of which we are proudly represented,” said the rector of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo. (UMSNH), Yarabí Ávila González, during the commemoration of the Day of the Zootechnician Veterinarian.

A statement indicates that with the presence of the academic, administrative and student community, as well as the founders of the institution, the rector pointed out that 50 generations have graduated from their classrooms, which she said is cause for satisfaction because the UMSNH has been the training house for professionals who have a very important task, which is to preserve the life and care of animal species, as well as to stop any type of threat that may represent diseases transmitted by animals.

He asked the graduates to help continue building a positive image of the Universidad Michoacana, in the same way he invited them not to stray from the Maximum House of Studies, following recognizing the important work they carry out in society.

Ávila González pointed out that the faculty completely filled its quota for new admissions for the 2023-2024 school year, which he said, it is satisfactory that Casa de Hidalgo continues to be a benchmark chosen by high school students to continue their studies, but it also hurts for the young people who might not have a place in the institution.

“We will look for alternatives so that the University continues to offer more spaces to students and that obviously there are many veterinarians out there who promote animal welfare.”

The rector also thanked the donation of books made by the engineer Sergio Alejandro Gómez Velázquez, while recognizing those who over the years have worked for the good of the institution, as well as the work carried out by the current board of the faculty .

Similarly, he highlighted the importance of the collaboration agreement signed with the Association of Zootechnical Veterinary Physicians of Michoacán AC, through which academic, human resources training, scientific, technological, cultural, and research activities will be organized and developed. and dissemination, to name a few.

In his turn, the director of the faculty, José Antonio Luna Delgado, indicated that the educational program has had two accreditations before the National Council for Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics Education (CONEVET) and one valid until 2026 before the Inter-institutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES), and are preparing to be accredited for the first time before the Inter-institutional Commission for the Training of Human Resources for Health (CIFRHS) and later before CONEVET.

“Our academic program is of quality, the results of the EGEL demonstrate it, our graduates have exceeded the national average. Today we are the fourth UMSNH application request program, ”he explained.

The president of the College of Veterinary Zootechnicians of Michoacán AC, José Francisco Lemus Suárez, indicated that this area of ​​knowledge has had a vertiginous evolution and highlighted that more and more women are deciding to study this profession, while inviting the graduates to come to the College to have greater union growth.

During the commemoration, the engineer Sergio Gómez, bibliographic promoter, delivered a donation to the faculty of 226 reference books with topics related to veterinary medicine. At the ceremony, the Nicolaitan authorities awarded recognitions to outstanding graduates of the 50 generation.

The event was attended by the director of the Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences, Víctor Mercado; the director of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Carlos Alejandro Villalobos; the Coordinator of Links and Services to the Community of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, Laura Guadalupe Sánchez Gil; the director of Linkage and Social Service of the UMSNH, Elizabeth Vázquez Bernal, as well as former directors of the institution, teachers, administrative staff and students.
