Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) in Táchira: No Individual Can Sell Quotas – Report Scams Now!

Táchira.- After receiving complaints from alleged managers who charge to provide places in the medicine course at the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) in Táchira, the authorities ruled assuring that no individual, inside or outside the house of study, can sell quotas, since it is considered a scam.

“There is no no person authorized to be processing income to the University. The procedures are carried out by the Office of Student Admission (OFAE) and the Central Office of Student Records (OCRE)”, informed the vice-rector of the ULA, Omar Pérez Díaz. The authority of the institution makes a call to the community with the purpose of reporting these types of scams.

Therefore, Pérez Díaz reported that in order to study Medicine career applicants must communicate with Dr. Gerardo Tovito, dean of the Nucleo Táchira Faculty of Medicine and follow the proper steps to enter the academy to study.

The vice-rector indicated that people who are scammed and who have been asked for money to enter the different races, must make a report to the ULA Core Council. “Yeah do not wish to file a complaint with the university to do so before the Prosecutor’s Office, Ombudsman’s Office and before the police authorities, since this crime must be combated,” he stressed.

Pérez Díaz explained that the cases that have arisen are because there are individuals who take advantage of the despair of high school graduates who want to enter to the medical career. The authority reported that outstanding artists, outstanding athletes and high-performance high school graduates with an average of 19-20.
