United States: He beats the lottery… and wins the jackpot
A lottery player who was waiting outside a vending machine finally bought a ticket at the counter following having his courtesy burned. He won $1 million.
What might be more annoying than being passed in a queue, especially following a long day at work? This is what happened to Stephen Espinoza, who stopped in a supermarket on his way home last week in Delray Beach (Florida). The 43-year-old man was waiting his turn to access an electronic lottery machine when a boor walked past him.
Too tired to get upset, the forties preferred to change his plans. “Instead of saying something, I said to myself that I was simply going to buy a ticket at the counter”, he tells the Florida Lottery. Stephen asked the cashier for a scratch ticket, which he mechanically scratched off before getting back into his car. It was obviously the lucky day of the forties: he received an astronomical sum.
“I can’t believe I won $1 million!” exclaimed the American during a press conference. The lucky guy chose to receive his winnings in one go, thus winning the tidy sum of $820,000. Stephen and his wife plan to use this money to buy a house.
