Two people died struck by lightning, while they were in a park a few meters from the White House. Two other people, also affected, are in critical condition.
This kind of drama is extremely rare… especially when it occurs a few meters from the White House. A couple of septuagenarians from Wisconsin were fatally struck on Thursday evening in Washington while they were in a park near the residence of the American President.
Two people who were with them were also affected, they are currently in a “critical condition”, announces the police. Fox cameras captured the lightning strike that struck the victims.
NEW: Our @fox5dc cameras caught the lightning strike that may have caused the injuries near the White House. Clearly hits either the ground or nearby tree. You can see the sparks on the ground following the contact. NEVER shelter under a tree during a storm. Lightning can be deadly! pic.twitter.com/ZCCDzRXMEJ

US health authorities have established that the odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 1 million. This tragedy is a reminder in any case that if the risk is low, it is not non-existent. One of the precautions to take is not to take refuge under a tree during thunderstorms.
