Harassed by his 8-year-old neighbor, a 6-year-old boy was hit in the face by a flaming tennis ball in Connecticut on Sunday. He was badly burned but survived.
The life of Dominick Krankall, 6, changed on Sunday in the garden of his house in Bridgeport (Connecticut). The little boy was playing with other children when his 8-year-old neighbor entered a cabin, where he got his hands on gasoline and a lighter. The child then called Dominick, who came to meet him. Within seconds, the boy poured gasoline on a tennis ball, lit it and threw it in the face of his young neighbor.
The perpetrator of the attack and his accomplices then “ran away and watched it burn”, tells NBC 4 Kayla Deegan, the victim’s sister. The boy rushed home to seek help. “Mom, they set me on fire!” he shouted. Dominick survived this attack, but suffered severe second and third degree burns to his face and legs. According to Bridgeport authorities, four unsupervised children were seen having fun igniting objects with gasoline before the tragedy.
“His family thinks it’s a joke”
Dominick’s family assures us that the little boy had been martyred for some time by this same neighbor, who had already sent him once to the hospital following pushing him once morest a wall. “He has a history of bullying and has gotten away with it too many times. His mother thinks he is innocent. His family thinks it’s a joke, ”denounces Kayla. An investigation is underway, but no charges have yet been brought once morest the perpetrator. “It’s disgusting (…) It has to circulate everywhere, so that everyone knows Dom’s story,” says the young woman.
The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to be able to pay the child’s medical bills and buy a new house. More than $275,000 had already been collected Thursday morning.
