CCTV News Client On September 29, local time, the United Nations Security Council issued a statement strongly condemning the suicide terrorist attack that occurred in Pakistan that day. The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and the Government of Pakistan, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The statement reiterated that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

Council members stressed that the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and supporters of these reprehensible acts of terrorism must be held accountable and brought to justice. They urged all countries to actively cooperate with the Government of Pakistan and all other relevant authorities in this regard in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The statement also reiterated that any act of terrorism is a criminal act and is an indefensible criminal act regardless of its motive, when, where, or by whomever it is committed. All countries are required to use all means to combat threats to international peace and security in accordance with the United Nations Charter and other obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law.
