Unity is what makes them strong. United Kreyol Mas, this West Indian-Guyanese project that brings together Caribbean culture around music and dance, will be the first French group to parade at the Notting Hill Carnival, in England, next Monday, August 29.
In total, no less than forty dancers and musicians from Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana will thrill the streets of west of the English capital for two days.
It is to the rhythm of gwo-ka, ti-bwa, lambi conch and cha-cha that the dancers will parade accompanied by traditional and contemporary songs, representing the three territories.
A real opportunity for the group, launched three years ago, whose credo is to bring together lovers of Caribbean culture under the same colors: those of Madras.
Because for the occasion, the members will wear madras suits made by a London designer.
A long-standing project undermined by the Covid but which today intends to make the spectators dance and bring joy by making our Caribbean culture known.
And it’s a safe bet that following two years of cancellation by Covid, this 2022 edition of the Notting Hill Carnival is likely to amaze the eyes of 2.5 million people expected each year. Indeed, this carnival is a world famous celebration of British Afro-Caribbean identity.
