United confirm » Willy Kambwala tries his luck in Spain | Muss.se | Manchester United Supporters Club Scandinavia

On Monday morning, it is clear that Willy Kambwala will join Spanish Villarreal permanently. According to reports, it will be a deal of ten million pounds for the services of the French centre-back.Â

Willy Kambwala joined Manchester United’s academy in 2020 from French club Sochaux as a 16-year-old. Kambwala was born in DR Congo but moved to France as a five-year-old, and grew up in the same suburb and played in the same neighborhood club as Anthony Martial.

After being pulled out with injuries, Kambwala started playing reasonably regularly for the U21 team in the 2022/23 season. Kambwala didn’t make many appearances in the youth team but impressively enough that when injuries started creeping into the back line last season, Kambwala was considered ready to fill the center backs shoes in the A team.

Kambwala featured for the first time in the A team as an unused substitute once morest Liverpool in December 2023. Less than a week later, he started once morest West Ham and was one of the best on the field. But perhaps the clearest impression he made once morest Liverpool in April. In the 2-2 match, he showed enormous effort and ability. After the match, he finished third in the vote for player of the match.

It ended up being just one season in the A team for Kambwala, with 10 A team appearances as a result.

We wish Willy all the best in his new club!
