During the event – in which representatives from various institutions and civil organizations gathered – the need for our country to have more doctors who care for the health of the population was discussed.

According to OECD data, Mexico faces a significant gap in the number of doctors required. With only 2.3 to 2.9 doctors per thousand inhabitants, it is imperative to train more of these professionals, especially those focused on primary care. Thus, UNITEC’s new Medicine degree has a relevant local impact, turning the region into an area of influence in terms of social responsibility and professional practice.

According to Rector Claudia Chávez, this is how UNITEC shows its commitment to training competent and ethical doctors, prepared to face the challenges of the health system and contribute to the well-being of society.
