In glorious summer weather, the premiere of the first Schärdinger Opera Festival took place last weekend in the Schärdinger Schlosspark. The two directors Philipp Mayer (from Andorf) and Reka Szabo from Zsambek (Hungary) succeeded in attracting numerous international and national artists from the scene to the district capital in advance. The Israeli-Portuguese mezzo-soprano Maya Yahav-Gour also shines, as does the Russian tenor Alexey Sapin and soprano Nora Mayer, who performed arias by Mozart, VERDI and Tchaikovsky, among others. The artists were also well accompanied by the orchestra, which was conducted with great sensitivity by Ustina Dubitsky.

But the organizers Mayer and Szabo also contributed their artistic part with their powerful voices to the event, which was very well attended. Mayer even composed a fanfare especially for the festival, which added a valuable facet to the diverse programme. The entertaining evenings were complemented by acrobatic interludes by Santiago Ruiz-Albalate and the two dancers Valentina Vitale and Fanny Vaucher.
