Union Saint-Gilloise will host Roma and travel to Fenerbahçe in the league phase

Union Saint-Gilloise will face AS Roma and Fenerbahçe in the league phase of the 2024-2025 Europa League, the draw for which took place on Friday at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

The four home games, which will be played at the King Baudouin Stadium, will see Union host AS Roma (Italy), Braga (Portugal), Bodo/Glimt (Norway) and Nice (France).

On the road, the Brussels team will meet Rangers (Scotland), Fenerbahçe (Turkey), Midtjylland (Denmark) and Twente (Netherlands).

Union Saint-Gilloise lost in the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League against Slavia Prague and was directly transferred to the Europa League.

After a major reform of European competitions, the Europa League has adopted a system similar to that of the Champions League. The league phase is played by 36 teams, each of which will play eight matches. The clubs, divided into four pots for the draw, will each face two teams from each pot, including their own. Four matches will be at home, and four away, with the schedule to be determined.

All teams will be included in a single ranking. At the end of the eight days, the top eight will qualify for the round of 16. The teams between 9th and 24th places will play in knockout play-offs for a place in the round of 16. The teams from 25th to 36th places will be eliminated.

Once the round of 16 stage is reached, the competition will return to its classic format with two-legged knockout matches until the final which will take place on May 21, 2025 in Bilbao.

Along with Union Saint-Gilloise, Anderlecht will also play in the Europa League. Belgium has a total of five representatives in all European competitions, with Club Brugge still in the Champions League, as well as Gent and Cercle Brugge in the Conference League.
