Union activities rise up against the assault on health workers inside two health centers

The National Health Union, through its regional office in Marrakech, expressed its great dissatisfaction with the increasing attacks on health personnel in health centers and hospitals, stressing that the attacks have increased in intensity in health institutions in the region recently.

The university, which is affiliated with the General Union of Moroccan Workers, issued a statement regarding the verbal and moral assault and attempted physical assault that the health workers at the Sidi Ghanem Health Center and the Azzouzia Health Center were subjected to yesterday, Monday, August 19, by a patient who was in a state of “agitation.”

The same source explained that during this attack, the health workers took cover inside the treatment room, the door of which the attacker tried to break down. They contacted the police, who arrived at the scene quickly and arrested the attacker, while listening to the victims.

The regional office of the university added that this attack caused difficult psychological effects on the employees of the two centers and resulted in the destruction of some property, stressing its unconditional support for the affected health cadres in the two health centers, and its readiness to take all necessary measures and procedures to ensure the safety and health of patients and employees alike in the two health centers.

Accordingly, the regional office of the National Health Union requested the Health and Social Protection Delegate in Marrakech to complete the legal procedures to address the complaint of health personnel who were subjected to attacks while performing their duties, in order to ensure deterrence and to ensure that these acts are not repeated in the public facility.

In addition, the UGTM Health Union of Marrakech stressed the need to reinforce health institutions with more private security guards and to give priority to health centers and maternity homes due to the large number of clients, especially health centers that have been combined into one health center.
