Al-Marsad newspaper: The Council of Ministers, in its session held today under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, approved the unified national classification of crimes “for statistical purposes.”
The classification unifies the names of all criminal acts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between the institutions of the criminal justice system and statistical bodies, in a manner consistent with the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes.
Classification objectives
The classification aims to raise the level of data quality of criminal justice system institutions, and enhance the ability of competent authorities to analyze patterns and trends of crime, study their causes, and adopt appropriate solutions.
The classification also supports the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and enables it to benefit from artificial intelligence techniques in providing practical solutions that serve the criminal justice system. The classification also has the flexibility that enables it to keep pace with legislative developments in the future.
