Unified Gulf Tourist Visa and Traffic Violation Linking: 40th GCC Interior Ministers Meeting Update

KUWAIT: The 40th GCC Interior Ministers meeting in Oman approved the unified Gulf tourist visa scheme. The meeting also initiated the first phase of the project to electronically link traffic violations between the Gulf countries.

The 40th meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Oman’s Interior Minister Hamood bin Faisal Albusaidi. The unified Gulf tourist visa will come into force following the final approval by the Gulf Summit. With this, tourists can visit all the six Gulf countries with a single visa.

Speaking at the meeting, Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud said that the challenges and risks facing the region and the world, which have resulted in the spread of violence, terrorism, extremism, insecurity and cross-border organized crime, make it imperative for the Gulf Cooperation Council to maintain unity, strengthen collective action, and raise the level of security cooperation and coordination.

The head of the GCC, Al Budawi, explained that the unified Gulf visa is a project that will facilitate movement between the six GCC countries and bring good results in the economic and tourism sectors, and will help to take stronger measures and decisions once morest the scourge of mankind such as drugs.
