UNICEF and TransAkanda add a line –

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), through its local representation and the urban transport company of the young commune of Akanda, in the northern suburbs of Libreville, concluded a partnership on Tuesday with a view to strengthening their commitment to promoting children’s rights.

The signing of the partnership between these two entities aims to support the initiatives of the UN organization in Gabon and to ensure the optimal participation of children of all conditions in said activities. It is also for TransAkanda to strengthen awareness among its teams for increased safety of young people on board transport vehicles.

« TransAkanda has decided, as part of its corporate social responsibility, to do something for the well-being of children. It has therefore agreed to support us in organizing various activities by providing transport for children in need and those living with disabilities. We therefore wanted to formalize this agreement through today’s ceremony. It is also a way of encouraging other companies, other transport companies in particular, to imitate this example and to make a lasting commitment to defending the rights of children and young people.said Dr Marie-Reine Chirezi Fabry, UNICEF Representative in Gabon.

“At each event organized by UNICEF, we will provide a bus, a driver and possibly a controller. TransAkanda, let’s remember, is very social and that is what made us decide to support UNICEF” said the Director General of TransAkanda, Daril Obiang Méballé.

Founded in 1946 and present in 181 countries, UNICEF, headquartered in New York, United States, works to promote children’s rights and helps the most disadvantaged children in the world.
