“Unfounded accusations, a great job done” –

Rai defends the great work done by the editorial staff of Tg1 in covering the attack on Trump. Usigrai, in fact, had speciously attacked the decisions of the top management of Tg1 for the choice of hosting the Special broadcast in the hours following the attack. “The news of the attack on former President Trump arrived following midnight and kept part of the Tg1 management busy all night, starting with the director, three deputy directors and the Foreign editor-in-chief, Oliviero Bergamini, former correspondent for the Rai office in New York. The organization of a 3 and a half hour special, starting at 7 in the morning, involved the entire Foreign editorial team and part of the News editorial team. The connections with guests and correspondents from Rai offices abroad were organized on international politics issues. As has already happened on other occasions in the past, even with other managements, the choice to conduct a Special focused exclusively on international politics issues – in compliance with the decision-making autonomy of the director established by article 6 of the national contract for journalistic work – fell on the relevant editorial team. My esteemed and appreciated colleague Capparelli regularly conducted the TgLis, an information space that might not be included in the Special (which is different from the Tg). Usigrai speaks of retaliation, an unfounded accusation that must be strongly rejected given that the choice of presenter of the 3 and a half hour Special fell on a chief editor (Olivero Bergamini) and a chief of service-presenter of the Foreign editorial office (Perla Di Poppa) already sent to the United States on the occasion of the American elections and as a replacement to cover the correspondence office in New York”.
