Pia Skrzyszowska failed to advance to the final of the 100m hurdles at the Olympic Games in Paris. The Polish athlete and the world record holder, Nigerian Tobi Amusan, tied for ninth place (12.55 seconds) in the semi-finals, the first time they failed to advance.

Hurdler Pia Skrzyszowska ended her Olympic starts in the semi-final. The Pole, who had achieved an excellent time of 12.37 a few weeks before the games, ran a bit slower in Paris.

She finished her semi-final series third, equal to the world record holder Tobi Amusan. Skrzyszowska and the Nigerian achieved a time of 12.55, equal to one thousandth. Both had to wait for the results of the next races.

In the second, the third hurdler was slower than the African and our competitor, but in the third, Jamaica Nugent (12.44) and the home favorite Samba-Mayela (12.52) ran faster. This meant that the Pole did not advance to the final.

It was very close. Well, it didn’t work out. I tried my best, but it wasn’t enough – said Skrzyszowska.
