While it is traditionally synonymous with warm moments in the center of Péruwelz, the Sainte-Anne will have experienced a 2023 edition made complicated due to bad weather. Wind, rain and cold got the better of the courage of the citizens this Sunday followingnoon and early evening, with “only” a hundred or so spectators present at the start of the concert. An extremely rare figure for this traditional festivity which attracts on average between 6,000 and 7,000 people.
Not much more success for the chiffonnade and the ducasse, also impacted by capricious weather which decidedly did not want to leave Péruwelz alone. The proof is: the various exhibitors had no choice but to pack up their stalls earlier. At the time of writing these lines, the fireworks scheduled following midnight, however, were maintained.
