More than six years following its initial debut, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to surprise, as one gamer recently discovered when drawing his sword during a Battle of Stalnox proved instantly fatal. Although The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom Tears has rightly been heaped on a lot of praise lately for its freedom and versatility in gameplay, much of it continues to be thanks to what Breath of the Wild established in 2017. After dislodging the giant skeleton’s eye with an accurate arrow throw, they swapped the wooden spear which they equipped with a stronger metal sword in order to destroy the eye and kill Stalnox. However, the very moment they arm the sword, they are struck by a lightning bolt drawn into the metal weapon in Link’s hand, which also kills him in the process. This instant death from the sky can be unusual because the game usually warns players when something is regarding to strike. But as the responses to Lonely-Blacksmith-17 indicate once Breath of the Wild locks lightning on an object, it always strikes following a set amount of time. Additionally, lightning always prioritizes hitting Link if possible, and switching to it even if it’s regarding to hit something else. What appears to have happened, then, is that Lonely-Blacksmith-17 equipped a metal weapon at the exact moment a bolt of lightning was regarding to hit another object in the area, causing it to strike instead. The result is another brutal example of Zelda players having the worst timing.
