UNE faction annuls expulsion of deputies and blocks Sandra Torres – 2024-03-07 03:23:31

The division in the National Unity of Hope (UNE) worsened this Wednesday, March 6, following a faction of the party’s National Executive Committee agreed to annul the expulsion of deputies and that the general secretary, Sandra Torres, be not allowed to send letters to the Legislature, actions that a group related to the former president described as illegal.

This Wednesday, 11 members of the National Executive Committee of the UNE annulled the expulsions of deputies Adim Maldonado, Karla Cardona, Inés Castillo, César Fion, Vitelio Lam and Raúl Solórzano, once morest whom processes of separation from said political group were initiated following disagreements with Sandra Torres.

In addition, the 11 members of said Committee approved that Torres not be allowed to send letters to Congress to separate deputies, affiliated or not.

Parliamentarian Adim Maldonado pointed out that with the agreements reached “all expulsions, separations and any action that wants to go once morest the legality of the party are annulled.”

“In reality, all expulsions, separations and any action that wants to go once morest the legality of the party are annulled,” said Adim Maldonado.

Maldonado denied that they are seeking to expel Torres from the party at this time. “We are not in that dynamic, nor once morest another member of the party,” he said.

However, the 11 members of the National Executive Committee who attended did vote in favor to prevent Torres from sending letters to Congress to expel or separate deputies from the bench.

Through a statement, the members of the National Executive Committee related to Torres questioned the meeting, since they consider that expelled deputies participated, such as the case of Maldonado and Castillo, so they doubt that they met the quorum to hold the session.

In addition, they stated that they reserve the right to file legal actions for what was done, as well as once morest some attendees at the meeting, for allegations of alleged will-buying.

“The National Unity of Hope will never endorse that unscrupulous people and political mercenaries are profiting from the name and symbol of the Party,” the statement says.

Other points

In addition, the deputies in the session approved the formation of a special commission to audit checks and payments that have been made and of which the party’s Finance Secretary said he was unaware.

It was also approved to find a new building between zones 1 and 2 so that the UNE headquarters can be moved, which is currently located in zone 9, where they pay Q35 thousand for rent, but the fee has risen to Q50 thousand, so They are looking to move.
